Career History:

1984 - First Bangladeshi in Scotland to be appointed Justice of the peace.

1992 - Junior Chamber of Scotland, ‘Young Scot of the Year’ Award.

1993 - 1997 -  First Bangladeshi Honorary Consul in Scotland

1994- Founder Director of Edinburgh Mela Ltd ( Festival of Asia )

1995 - Awarded member of the British Empire medal by Queen Elizabeth II

1997- Chairman, Commonwealth Society , Edinburgh

2000 - Awarded Doctorate in Business Administration ( Honouris Causa) by Queen Margaret         University College in it’s 125th. Anniversary year.

2002- Re- appointed Honorary Consul of Bangladesh in Scotland

2003- Director , Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce

Chairman and C.E.O. of the Universal Koba Corporation Ltd., owners of Britannia Spice winner of the 2001 Pat Chapman’s Good Curry Guide ‘ Best Curry Restaurant in Scotland’, Les Routiers ‘Newcomer of the Year 2001 Award’ and the Sunday  Times ‘Best Ethnic Restaurant Award’. Chairman of Bangladesh british Chamber of Commerce and Chairman of the Commonwealth Society of Edinburgh.

Active in Edinburgh Mela, Rotary International, and numerous charity initiatives that have raised hundred of thousands of pounds for good causes. In addition to his own commercial interests he is a respected consultant to several major award-winning restaurants in Scotland and the U.K.
